Over the holiday break, I spent time catching up on and reading photography blogs that I consider to be inspiring and educational. It can be difficult to know exactly which blogs are worth following and why I like to re-evaluate where I’m spending my valuable time.
In this blog post, I would like to share with you ten photography blogs that I intend on reading this year.
1. ) Tiffinbox
Tiffinbox is an inspiring blog primarily aimed at photographers who are looking to improve their photography skills and build successful businesses.
It’s founder Seshu Badrinath a professional wedding and portrait photographer from Avon, Connecticut has spent over a decade blogging and interviewing other experts from within the photographic industry.
If you’re interesting becoming a professional photographer, Tiffinbox will provide you with useful insights that will help you on your journey.
2. ) Photofocus
Photofocus is a blog that primarily focuses on educating aspiring and professional photographers.
Unlike other blogs they publish content from a range of accomplished photographers, unique artists and recognized business leaders in the photographic industry.
It’s founder Scott Bourne, a well-known expert within the photographic community started Photofocus in 1998 and has since grown the blog to contain approximately over 2,000 posts that aim to motivate, educate, inform and entertain photographers from around the world.
3. ) The Modern Tog
The Modern Tog is a blog written by Jamie Swanson a wedding photographer from Wisconsin, who focuses on publishing easily actionable advice about how to market and run a photography business.
Jamie also offers a range of premium products like her easy client & money manager (excel spreadsheet) through to her email templates for handling difficult clients.
4. ) Cambridge In Colour
Cambridge in Colour began it’s life as a gallery of stunning nighttime photography.
It’s founder Sean McHugh a scientist in training was fascinated by the interaction between technological developments and the range of creative options available to photographers.
His unique, scientific approach gave rise to the success of his low-light photography and since then he has gone on to create an extensive library of tutorials where photographers can come to improve their skills.
5. ) Sprouting Photographer
Sprouting Photographer is a blog that teaches how to achieve success as a professional photographer through sustainable business practices.
Bryan Caporicci a wedding and portrait photographer based out of Fonthill, Canada is the founder of Sprouting Photographer.
In 2011, he was awarded his Craftsman of Photographic Arts (CPA) designation by the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC), making him one of the youngest photographers in Canada to receive this level of achievement.
As Sprouting Photographer continues to grow, so does the team of experts that contribute making it a wonderful resource for aspiring photographers.
6. ) Photography Concentrate
At first glance the Photography Concentrate may appear to be focused on educating enthusiast photographers, but if you look closely you will notice they also publish content for up and coming professional photographer.
Canadian wedding photographers Rob and Lauren are the co-creators of Photography Concentrate and have extensive experience in shooting weddings and portraits.
Whilst their love for photography hasn’t changed, their love of teaching has grown and is evident in the quantity of education courses and resources they’ve created to help photographers like you.
7. ) Digital Photography School
Digital Photography School is a blog that publishes tips and tutorials to help digital camera owners get the most out of their cameras.
Some of you who are advanced digital camera users might find some of what is written on this website a little basic, however I’ve found on occasions interesting articles worth reading to refresh one’s memory.

It’s founder Darren Rowse is a digital photography enthusiast from Victoria, Australia and is a veteran when it comes to blogging. Darren has grown DPS to become one of the largest photography blogs on the internet.
8. ) Psychology For Photographers
Psychology For Photographers is a unique blog that specialises in teaching how psychology influences and can improve the marketing of your photography business.

It’s founder Jenika McDavitt originally studied psychology at Yale, before changing careers and launching a full-time portrait photography business.
If you’re looking to get more clients for your photography business, psychology forms the foundation of all effective marketing and therefore you should definitely read Jenika’s blog for valuable insights on how psychology influences your marketing.
9. ) Photography Awesome Sauce
In April 2012 Photography Awesome Sauce was foundered by Carrie Swails a self-taught wedding photographer from Denver, Colorado.
What started out as a personal photography blog for sharing tips has now turned into a team of bloggers with a variety of expertise and experience now publishing a diverse range of educational content and resources for photographers of all skill levels.
10. ) The Law Tog
If you’ve ever found yourself a little bit confused when it comes to legal contracts for your photography business, don’t worry because you’re not alone.
Rachel Brenke the founder of The Law Tog is an accomplished lawyer and photographer, which grants her a unique perspective into the legal practices associated with running a successful photography business.
Whilst I highly recommend you hire and speak with a lawyer, blogs like The Law Tog can present more understanding and helpful insights into the legal direction of your photography business which you can then raise with your own lawyer.
